Paris - French President Nicolas Sarkozy was taken to hospital Sunday after falling ill while exercising, his office announced in a statement.
France Info radio reported that the incident occurred before noon at his residence near Versailles and that the 54-year-old Sarkozy was taken to Val-de-Grace military hospital in Paris where he was being examined by doctors.
No details about his condition or the nature of the illness were provided.
According to his office, Sarkozy was last examined in early July and the results had been normal.
