Suspicious powder blocking German autobahn is sherbert
Jul 28, 2009, 11:30 GMT
Frankfurt - A German motorway was blocked on Tuesday after an accident between three lorries which tipped bright powder all over the road.
Police and fire brigade approached the accident site, on the A3 motorway near Frankfurt, with caution, fearing that a dangerous chemical might have been spilled.
With palpable relief, police confirmed that the spilled substance was, in fact, sherbert.
'The experts were soon able to give the all-clear,' an officer said, adding that they were dealing with, 'sugary powder for the production of soft drinks, not dangerous substances.'
Labourers spent hours shovelling the sweet powder off the motorway.
