Kosovo hands over remains of Serb war crime victims
Aug 7, 2009, 13:26 GMT
Belgrade - Kosovo on Friday handed over the remains of three Serbs kidnapped and killed by Albanian guerrillas a decade ago.
The remains were identified and delivered to the families on the boundary between Serbia and Kosovo, the former Serbian province which declared independence unilaterally last year.
With its population 90 per cent ethnic Albanian, Kosovo was the scene of a war between Albanian insurgents and Serbian authorities and paramilitaries in 1998-99.
Serbia reacted heavy-handedly to the insurgency, driving tens of thousands of people from their homes. The international community generally condemned the Serb actions.
NATO eventually intervened against Belgrade, ousting its forces from Kosovo and paving the way for a UN administration and an international peacekeeping presence, but also to the province's independence, which Pristina declared in February 2008.
A decade after fighting ended, tensions and hatred still persist and Kosovo remains deeply divided between the larger, Albanian south and the smaller, Serbian north.
Some 4,000 victims have been found and identified since the war ended. Nearly 1,900 people, mostly Albanians - but also many Serbs - are still missing.

These types of articles are proof that the west and not Russia are changing there view on the situation in Kosovo. Serbia was driven out from its rightfully owned land. Its citizens of serbian ethnicity were tortured and murdered, they formed about 15% or 200,000 of the population and formed no harm to the larger albanian community which had large and powerful rights..!! 4000 ppl are declared missing 10000 dead. Before 1998, the serbs were killed on a daily basis, this brought in the military to stop the Rebels and crime commited among its Citizens. The serbian army like any other profesional army acted in the best andquickest possible way, in this time there were over 50000 guerilla fighters with heavy weaponry but minimal training taking on a well known and respected Serbian armed forces. The outcome would be obvious a quick and succesfull mission. In this time there were 2000 rebels killed, before this in tervention there were 1000 serbian CIVILIANS missing. When Nato intervened in this so called ethnic cleansing and when the serbian army had to leave its Kosovo, in the followin months another 1200 serbs went missing, under the supervision of Peacekeppers. In the media They purposly made serbs out to be the monsters, and would never mention the attrocities commited on serbs. Now it is changing, they mention it. Mayby they will also mention the Mujahedin of Bosnia and Kosovo, who are foreigners from islamic nations fighting as holy warriors in the holy war against christians. These same people that were never mentioned, are directly linked to al-qaida, Bin-Ladin Iran and all of those who USA put on there terror list of individuals and nations, but never seem to some how connect it with those from Kosovo and Bosnia and show to the world the simple TRUTH, of the OTHER SIDE..!!
