Paris - Five people were killed Sunday when a small plane crashed at the town of Callas in southern France.
Local police said the Cessna plane crashed into a wooded area and caught fire.
Eyewitnesses said the plane appeared to be gliding without making any sound, indicating a possible engine failure, before it crashed. The plane had taken off from the Mediterranean city of Cannes.
