Sep 8, 2009, 14:48 GMT
Belgrade - A Belgrade court has sentenced four Muslim extremists, all of them Serbian nationals, to terms of between four to eight years for planning terrorist attacks in Serbia, local media reported.
The group was arrested in 2007 in Sandzak region in southern Serbia, on the border with Kosovo, where a majority of Muslims live. They were convicted of terrorism and illegal possession of weapons.
The Special Court in Belgrade ruled that the four man, members of an extreme Wahhabi movement, were planning attacks in Serbia, including a football stadium in southern Serbia.
Two men received eight-year sentences, one a seven-year sentence and one a four-year sentence.
In July another 12-member group of Wahhabis was sentenced to long prison sentences on terrorism charges.
