Polish foreign minister urges patience on US missile plans (Extra)
Sep 17, 2009, 11:23 GMT
Warsaw - Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski urged patience Thursday amid reports that the United States would call off plans to build an anti-missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic.
'The decision will maybe be different than what many of you expect' Sikorski told reporters in Warsaw.
Sikorski said Poland agreed with the US to withhold comment until President Barack Obama made an official statement on the shield's future.
Sikorski said he would soon meet with US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to discuss the plan.
'This is a matter (on) which we're in intensive Polish-US dialogue,' Sikorski said. He called a Thursday morning meeting of Polish and US delegations a 'preparation' for those talks.
