Russia-Georgia talks adjourn "without breakthrough"

Geneva - The seventh round of talks between Russia and Georgia over the breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia ended in Geneva on Thursday without substantive agreement, sources within the talks said.
The two countries, along with representatives from the two formerly Georgian republics, had been discussing the security situation in the region and humanitarian issues in the one-day meeting.
The two sides are due to meet again on November 11.
In February the delegations agreed on a prevention mechanism to avoid violent clashes in the area, but implementation had been difficult. Negotiations were moving in the right direction, however, diplomats said.
