Brown congratulates Merkel on election win
Sep 27, 2009, 22:08 GMT
London - British Prime Minister Gordon Brown congratulated German Chancellor Angela Merkel late Sunday on her party's win in national elections.
Brown sent his congratulations and 'looks forward to continuing their close working relationship,' a spokeswoman said.
Merkel secured victory on Sunday at the head of a new centre-right coalition that pairs her Christian Democrats with the pro-business Free Democratic Party (FDP) as junior partner. The FDP replaces her Social Democratic Party (SPD) partner of the past four years.
