Russia expresses concern about Iranian long-range missiles
Sep 28, 2009, 14:23 GMT
Moscow - Russia's military warned Monday about a growing danger from Iranian missiles in the wake of Sunday's successful test of medium-range missiles by the Middle Eastern nation, reported the Interfax news agency.
'This development, which we couldn't imagine earlier, is now very active,' said Major General Vladimir Dvorkin, in comments recorded by Interfax.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards on Monday successfully tested a long- range Shahab-3 missile, state media reported.
The missile with a reported range of 2,000 kilometres was tested on the second day of an annual manoeuvre, Press TV reported.
Dvorkin, who is with the Russian Academy of Sciences, said Russian research has shown that Iran is working with high pressure technology on its rockets to give them a range of 5,500 kilometres.
'It is naive to think that Iran is not interested in such technology,' he said.
