Russia says report on Georgia war "objective" (Extra)
Sep 30, 2009, 11:56 GMT
Moscow - Russia on Wednesday praised a report by an independent expert on the August 2008 conflict with Georgia in the southern Caucasus as 'objective.'
The investigative report led by Swiss diplomat Heidi Tagliavini was correct in naming Georgia the aggressor in the conflict, Russian ambassador to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying.
'The report is objective for the most part in coming to the conclusion that Georgia began the aggression against South Ossetia,' Chizhov said.
Georgia had always claimed that blame lay primarily with Russia.
