Suspected al-Qaeda backer appears in German court

Karlsruhe, Germany - A suspected al-Qaeda supporter appeared before an investigating judge at the German Federal Court on Friday, 24 hours after his arrest.
Officials said a small quantity of explosives and what appeared to be a detonator were found during a search of his apartment in the town of Offenbach and business premises in nearby Frankfurt.
The 24-year-old, who has both German and Turkish nationality, is also suspected of spreading al-Qaeda propaganda via the internet.
