Report says Funkel new coach at Hertha Berlin
Oct 2, 2009, 18:28 GMT
Berlin - Friedhelm Funkel is to be appointed coach of struggling Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin, Bild newspaper reported on its website Friday.
A Hertha club spokesman would not confirm the report, which said the former Eintracht Frankfurt coach would be in charge of the team for Sunday's visit of league leaders SV Hamburg.
According to Bild.de, Funkel, 55, has agreed a one-year contract with an option for an extension.
Hertha, languishing in last place after six straight defeats, on Monday dismissed coach Lucien Favre. Under-23 coach Karsten Heine is in temporary charge of the team.
