Oct 25, 2009, 16:16 GMT
Berlin - An Italian tourist was seriously injured after being run over by a tram in the centre of Berlin on Sunday, police said.
Police said the 52-year-old woman was knocked down while attempting to cross the tram lines in the busy Karl-Liebknecht Street.
She was taken to hospital after the fire brigade was called in to extract her from under the vehicle.
Several people have died this year after being knocked down by trams, which mostly serve the centre and eastern suburbs of the capital.
