Dortmund beat Hertha 2-0 in Bundesliga
Oct 30, 2009, 21:34 GMT
Dortmund, Germany - Borussia Dortmund made up for a midweek cup embarrassment with a 2-0 Bundesliga victory over bottom club Hertha Berlin on Friday night.
Nuri Sahin was on target with a penalty on the hour after Gojko Kacar had wrestled down Patrick Owomoyela. Lucas Barrios then smashed the second high under the bar in injury time.
Dortmund dominated throughout but were lucky when Hertha's Lukasz Piszczek was denied by the right post in the 77th.
Dortmund rebounded from Tuesday's cup defeat at third division Osnabrueck and with three wins from the last four unbeaten league games rank ninth with 16 points.
Hertha, by contrast, remain on just one season win from the opener against Hanover in August. They drew last week against Wolfsburg and have lost the other nine games as their situation becomes more and more desperate with four points.
The other eight matches are on the weekend, with frontrunners Bayer Leverkusen at fourth-placed Schalke 04 and Bayern Munich at beleaguered VfB Stuttgart in the two top games set for Saturday.
