Germany's new foreign minister makes first foreign trip - to Poland

Warsaw - Germany's new Foreign Minister, Guido Westerwelle, embarked on his first official visit abroad since taking office Saturday - to neighbouring Poland.
Westerwelle, leader of the minority Free Democrats governing- coalition partner in Berlin, met with his counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski for several hours in Warsaw.
As well as German-Polish relations, the pair discussed European security policy and energy policy, according to Warsaw sources.
Westerwelle was due to meet President Lech Kaczynski later Saturday.
In his first official engagement as foreign minister, Westerwelle attended an European Union summit in Brussels on Thursday and Friday, alongside Chancellor Angela Merkel.
