Moscow - A plane plane belonging to Russia's Interior Ministry crashed shortly after takeoff in north-eastern Russia Sunday, killing all 11 people on board, authorities said.
The Itar-Tass news agency reported that the bodies of the victims - members of the crew and replacement crew - have been recovered. There were no casualties on the ground.
The Il-76 Candid aircraft crashed shortly after leaving Mirnyi airport in Yakutia. Reports said the plane flew for around two or three kilometres at an altitude of around 20 metres before it crashed in a deserted area.
The aircraft had been bound for the Siberian city of Irkutsk. Seven crew as well as four members from a replacement crew were on board.
The Interior Ministry sent a special commission to the scene to investigate the crash.
