Cristiano Ronaldo to travel to Netherlands to cure ankle injury
Nov 4, 2009, 21:38 GMT
Madrid - Spanish giants Real Madrid announced late on Wednesday that Cristiano Ronaldo is not yet fit to return to action, and will shortly travel to Amsterdam for treatment.
Ronaldo, 24, has been out since badly spraining his right ankle playing for Portugal against Hungary on October 10.
On Thursday or Friday the world's most expensive player will travel to the Netherlands to be treated by specialist Niek van Dijk, who operated upon the same ankle in July 2008.
Real will ask Portugal not to call up Ronaldo for the World Cup play-offs against Bosnia, scheduled for November 14 and 18.
Real broke the world transfer record in June when they paid Manchester United around 96 million euros (141.39 million dollars) for Ronaldo.
