Parade of old East German cars marks fall of Berlin Wall in Sofia
Nov 7, 2009, 16:28 GMT
Sofia - Bulgarians celebrated the fall of the Berlin Wall Saturday with a parade of Trabants - the signature car of the old East German regime - through the nation's capital.
Germany's ambassador to Bulgaria, Matthias Hoepfner, sat one of the lead cars, commonly known as a 'Trabis', decorated with an East German flag, as it wended its way through Sofia. The parade ended at the German embassy, housed in the former East German embassy.
The 20th anniversary of the fall of wall that had separated communist East Germany from the West for 28 years is Monday.
