Lowly Santander sack coach Mandia
Nov 9, 2009, 16:10 GMT
Madrid - Spanish Liga club Racing Santander announced on Monday the sacking of coach Juan Carlos Mandia.
The final nail in Madia's coffin was Sunday's 2-0 defeat at home to local rivals Athletic Bilbao.
Santander are fourth from the bottom with just seven points from ten games.
Club stalwarts Juanjo Gonzalez and Fede Castano will take charge of the team for Wednesday's King's Cup tie away to Salamanca, whilst club president Francisco Pernia looks for a replacement for Mandia, who was only in the job for five months.
The favourites for the job are Miguel Angel Portugal, Javier Clemente, Juanma Lillo y Victor Fernandez.
Mandia is the second Liga coach to be sacked this season, after Abel Resino of Atletico Madrid.
