Loew: Germany debut looms for Hunt and and Mueller
Nov 10, 2009, 14:58 GMT
Herzogenaurach, Germany - New call-ups Aaron Hunt and Thomas Mueller can expect to earn their first cap in two upcoming friendlies, Germany coach Joachim Loew said on Tuesday.
'I can well imagine that they will get a chance (to play),' Loew said at the presentation of the German shirt for the 2010 World Cup.
The attacking midfielders Hunt from Werder Bremen and Mueller from Bayern Munich were called up for the first time by Loew, an award for their excellent form in the Bundesliga in recent weeks.
Hunt, 23, is in the squad for both friendlies November 14 in Cologne against Chile and November 18 against Ivory Coast in Gelsenkirchen. The 20-year-old Mueller joins the squad for the second game after first playing a Euro qualifier for the under-21 team.
Loew has only one further friendly - on March 3, 2010, against Argentina in Munich - to test his players before he nominates a provisional squad for the June 11-July 11 World Cup in South Africa.
'We have only three games left. It is important that the players present themselves and give the impression that they want to be part of the World Cup,' said Loew, a statement directed at all players.
