Nov 24, 2009, 13:08 GMT
Riga - A Latvian police officer was arrested Tuesday in neighbouring Lithuania for driving a stolen German car, the Latvian website Apollo reported.
Lithuanian police pulled over the BMW X5 vehicle, which had German registration plates, for a routine check.
The inspection revealed that the luxury off-roader was listed as stolen in Latvia about a month ago, according to a database of cars in the Schengen zone.
Asked to provide identification, the unnamed driver produced his Latvian police identity card.
He was arrested on the spot before being handed over to the Latvian authorities for questioning.
