Chevanton loaned out by Sevilla to Atalanta
Nov 27, 2009, 9:22 GMT
Madrid - Spanish giants Sevilla announced on Friday that forward Ernesto Chevanton has been loaned out to Italian club Atalanta from January until the end of the season.
Chevanton, 29, joined Sevilla from AS Monaco in 2006 but has spent much more time on the substitutes' bench than on the field, mainly due to the success of the Frederic Kanoute-Luis Fabiano partnership.
The Uruguayan striker is quoted on Sevilla's website as saying that 'I know that this is going to be an important year for me because Uruguay has qualified for the World Cup.'
He added that 'I have spoken to the national team manager (Oscar Tabarez) and he told me that I needed to play regularly ... These six months will be useful for me, to show what I can do now that I am fit.'
Chevanton has played in Serie A before, for Lecce between 2001 and 2004.
