Vienna - An Austrian man's car exploded and his garage burned out when he tried to defrost his vehicle with a electric heater amid the current freezing temperatures, media reported Tuesday.
The 71-year-old man from the southern town of Klagenfurt had discovered that the radiator of his car had frozen, and decided to thaw it by placing a heater in front of it, Austrian broadcaster ORF said.
The man went into his house to eat, but his meal was interrupted when petrol fumes ignited and exploded the car.
No one was injured in the accident that also caused serious damage to the man's house, but his wife suffered a shock and was hospitalized.
