Wroclaw Euro 2012 stadium delayed
Dec 30, 2009, 13:40 GMT
Warsaw - The building of the Euro 2012 stadium in the Polish city of Wroclaw faces delays after the company contracted to construct it was fired, the city's mayor Rafal Dutkiewicz confirmed Wednesday.
Dutkiewicz said Polish construction company Mostostal Warszawa S.A. was removed from the project because of the slow pace of construction, adding that he doubted the stadium would be ready on schedule as a result.
'We expect to have a new contract in place within two to three weeks,' he said.
The Wroclaw stadium was due to be completed in spring 2011 but now looks unlikely to be finished until the summer. Warsaw, Poznan and Gdansk are the other Polish cities hosting Euro 2012 matches. Ukraine is co-hosting the tournament.
