Polish conservatives go after Bible-tearing heavy metal singer
Jan 14, 2010, 14:22 GMT
Warsaw - Four members of Poland's conservative Law and Justice party took legal action against a death metal band after its lead singer tore up a Bible on stage, Polish Radio reported Thursday.
The politicians asked prosecutors Wednesday to investigate whether Behemoth singer Adam Darski broke Polish law by shredding the Bible during a concert in Gdynia in September 2007.
The party does not expect the court to punish the front man, MP Andrzej Jaworski told gazeta.pl, a news website. 'We expect he will admit his guilt and apologize to the people who were offended,' Jaworski said.
Darski was previously sued by Ryszard Nowak, head of the All- Polish Committee for Defence Against Sects, for promoting Satanism by tearing up the Bible. But that case was dismissed because at least two reports were required by people who had been offended.
