Jan 28, 2010, 22:58 GMT
Madrid - Capital city teams Atletico Madrid and Getafe edged their way into the semi-finals of the Spanish King's Cup on Thursday by eliminating Celta Vigo and Mallorca respectively.
Atletico won in Vigo thanks to a 27th minute goal from Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan, and 30 minutes from time Roberto Trashorras appeared to have equalized for Celta, but his free-kick effort was controversially disallowed.
Atletico go through on a 2-1 aggregate, since the first leg was a 1-1 draw in Madrid last Thursday.
'We are determined to really go far in this competition,' said Atletico captain Antonio Lopez, 'we have a lot of hope placed in it.'
In the semi-finals, which begin next week, Atletico will face Racing Santander, who cruised past Osasuna on Wednesday.
The other semi-final will be between Getafe and Sevilla, who eliminated Deportivo Coruna on Wednesday.
On Thursday Getafe lost 1-0 at home to Mallorca but go through 2-2 on the away goals rule, because they won 2-1 in Palma last Thursday.
