Nesta's season at risk after knee injury
Mar 12, 2010, 18:12 GMT
Rome - AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has suffered a broken tendon in his right knee that could sideline him for the remainder of the season, Italian media reported Saturday.
The 33-year-old had missed a Champions League game against Manchester United on Wednesday due to knee troubles that became evident during a Serie A game against Atalanta on February 28.
'In the next days we'll have to consider whether to schedule an operation or not,' Nesta was quoted as saying after being visited in a clinic in Rome.
'I cannot tell if my season is over. Even if I had to undergo surgery I could return by the end of the league (on May 16).'
The injury is bad news for Milan as they focus on their pursuit of leaders Inter Milan. The Devils were eliminated from the Champions League and lie four-points adrift of the reigning champions with 11 games left.
