Los Angeles - Oscar winning actor Christoph Waltz is getting a new challenge.
After scooping up the best supporting actor prize earlier this month for his role as a manic Nazi, Austria's Waltz is to make his directorial debut in a German-language romantic comedy Auf und Davon (Up and Away), according to The Hollywood Reporter Friday.
The movie is based on a script by Waltz and tells the story of the ruthless host of a dating show who finds herself romantically attached to one of the show's contestants. While the film will initially be focused on the German-speaking market, Fox is also considering producing an English language version.
Waltz is currently working on two acting roles in the films Water for Elephants and the superhero film The Green Hornet. He is not expected to start directing Up and Away till 2011.
