Third Berlin poker heist suspect arrested
Mar 20, 2010, 13:28 GMT
Berlin - The third of four suspects in a spectacular heist at a Berlin poker tournament two weeks ago was arrested on Saturday, police said.
The 20-year-old, who had fled the country, gave himself in to the police at Berlin's Tegel airport on his return to Germany.
Two other suspects, aged 20 and 21, are already in police custody.
German police had begun international inquiries earlier in the week, saying they knew the identities of the suspects.
The four men, of Turkish and Arabic origins, allegedly made off with around 242,000 euros (330,000 dollars) after raiding a Berlin luxury hotel where one of Europe's biggest poker tournaments was taking place on March 6.
The remaining suspect reportedly fled to Lebanon, according to the German daily Bild, from where he has contacted Berlin police. The police did not initially confirm the report.
