Athens - Two Red Arrows jets, the aerobatics display team of the British Royal Air Force, collided during a training exercise over the southern Mediterranean island of Crete on Tuesday, reports said.
Reports said both pilots ejected, but one of them broke his leg and was taken to hospital. The incident occurred while the squad was trying out new formation aerobatics.
The remaining aircraft taking part in the international air display exercise returned to Kasteli Air Base on the island of Crete.
The Red Arrows are expected to appear at the London 2012 Olympics.
