Canary Island of Lanzarote left without power for two hours
Mar 24, 2010, 16:56 GMT
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain - A power cut Wednesday left much of the Spanish Canary Island of Lanzarote without electricity for nearly two hours, the power company Endesa said.
The black-out was apparently the result of a failure at an electricity sub-station in Arrecife, capital of the island of 140,000. The exact nature of the failure was not known.
The southern region of the island was the only part not affected.
The power cut followed one the nearby island of Tenerife during stormy weather five weeks earlier.
