Airplane carrying Polish president crashes, 87 dead (1st Lead)

Moscow - An airplane carrying Polish President Lech Kaczynski crashed Saturday morning as it approached an airport in Smolensk, Russia, the Polish Foreign Ministry confirmed Saturday morning.
'It looks bad,' said a ministry speaker, cited by the PAP news agency.
It was not clear if Kaczynski was among the 87 dead reported by Russian authorities.
