Alert cat saves all from fire in German block of flats
Apr 26, 2010, 17:25 GMT
Lindau, Germany - A cat gave the alarm early Monday, saving the residents of a burning German apartment block, police said.
A 36-year-old man woke in the night to the sound of frantic scratching by his cat. On a walk around the apartment to check why, he discovered smoke and phoned the fire brigade.
By the time fire crews in Lindau on the shore of Lake Constance arrived, the whole top storey was ablaze. All the residents, and the cat, safely left the building, but five apartments were gutted. Investigators are seeking the fire cause.
