Arsenal star Bendtner late for training with Danish squad
May 18, 2010, 14:38 GMT
Copenhagen - Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner on Tuesday was late for his first training session with Denmark's provisional squad for the World Cup finals.
An accident on the motorway to Helsingor held up the player, who was over 20 minutes late, and his teammates were already warming up when he arrived, Danish media reported.
Coach Morten Olsen, known for running a tight ship, shouted to Bendtner to get a move on when he saw him, the online edition of the BT tabloid reported.
Bendtner has had groin pain but said he was feeling better after treatment.
'But the most important is that I am ready for June 14, the (opening) match against Holland, and I promise to be that,' he was quoted as telling the online edition of the Ekstrabladet tabloid.
Olsen on Tuesday could also welcome Daniel Jensen of Werder Bremen, Kim Christensen of IFK Goteborg and Dennis Rommedahl of Ajax to the squad.
All 26 players on Olsen's provisional squad are due to be in Denmark by the end of the week. Olsen held his first practice session on Monday.
The Danish roster will be trimmed to 23 players after a May 27 friendly against Senegal.
