Rome - The Italian nation team squad was booed by angry fans who expected to meet the players as they left for a training camp ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Italian media reported Sunday
About 2,000 fans arrived at the Venaria Reale, a castle outside Turin, where the national team gathered on their way to the mountain resort of Sestriere.
Hisses and shouts reportedly followed the squad's bus as it left the castle without meeting the fans.
The Azzurri will train in the 2,000-metre-high village until June 5 and are scheduled to leave for South Africa on June 8.
They have scheduled a friendly with Mexico in Brussels on June 3 and one at Switzerland two days later.
The reigning world champions are in action in South Africa on June 14 against Paraguay before Group F games with New Zealand and Slovakia on June 20 and 24.
