Hamburg/Bangkok - The internet portal Yahoo will be adding Asia News Network (ANN) services to its internet website from July 2010, under a cooperation deal arranged by the German Press Agency dpa.
ANN, a network of 21 leading newspapers from 19 Asian countries, is to deliver selected text and photo services to Yahoo as part of a three-year agreement, dpa confirmed.
Yahoo's Southeast Asia Managing Editor Alan Soon said the portal's partnership with ANN promised a greater variety of stories told from local Asian perspectives, while ANN executive director Pana Janviroj said: 'We hope the readers get to know Asia as well as we do through this new Yahoo service.'
dpa Senior Vice President Michael Segbers said: 'From the beginning of our commitment with ANN we were convinced of the high value the ANN selection of finest articles has for the world wide readership. We are happy to see this belief approved now.'
dpa, which holds syndication rights at ANN, is the largest news service in Germany and one of the leading international newswires, providing text, photo and multimedia services in German, English, Arabic and Spanish to clients worldwide. The service is jointly owned by the German media.
