Jul 9, 2010, 23:41 GMT
Johannesburg - French football supremo Michel Platini was admitted to hospital in Johannesburg on Friday evening after suffering a malaise two days before the World Cup final, but his condition was not serious, reports said.
The 55-year-old president of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) was admitted to Morningside Medi-Clinic in northern Johannesburg after suffering a malaise at the end of a dinner with colleagues, the city's 702 radio station reported.
The clinic said he was in a stable condition.
Platini is a member of FIFA's World Cup Organizing Committee. He has been attending the World Cup, which ends Sunday with a Spain- Netherlands final in Johannesburg.
French newspaper Le Parisien quoted one of Platini's advisers as saying the former French international was 'very tired and overworked' and also suffering from flu.
But 'everything was okay,' William Gaillard told the paper.
The clinic was keeping him overnight Friday for observation, Le Parisien said.
