Serbian parliament adopts resolution on Kosovo after ICJ ruling

Belgrade - The Serbian parliament, in an emergency session called Monday, adopted a stating that Serbia will never accept the secession of Kosovo.
With 192 votes for and 26 against, the 250-seat parliament adopted the resolution after a marathon 12-hour session, which came in the wake of last week's International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling, which said that Kosovo violated no international law by declaring secession from Serbia in 2008.
Although non binding, the ICJ's decision is expected to lead to a new wave of recognition. So far 69 countries, including the United States and most of the European Union, recognize Kosovo's independence.
Serbia bitterly opposes it and Serbian President Boris Tadic told parliament that Belgrade will never give up Kosovo and that the ICJ's ruling will have worldwide consequences.
The resolution also backed government plans to seek new talks on Kosovo's status at the United Nations General Assembly in September.
