Reindeer trio enjoy Swedish golf course
Aug 4, 2010, 11:30 GMT
Stockholm - A trio of reindeer have become a new fixture on a golf course in northern Sweden, Swedish broadcaster SVT reported Wednesday.
The first of the three reindeer, a female called Irene, was spotted on Skelleftea Golf Club's course in mid-June and was later joined by two other reindeer. Together they enjoy roaming the 27-hole course.
The animals appear to especially enjoy lying in the sand traps, and have refused to leave the course even after being hit by errant golf balls, club members told SVT.
'They are really not in the way, but at times you have to shoo them away from the bunkers,' golfer Jan-Anders Melander told SVT.
Stephen Skinner, a club professional, said that when players' have a poor round, they 'blame it on the reindeer, but there are so many other distractions on the course - the reindeer are just an excuse.'
