Powell pulls out of Stockholm race against Powell and Gay
Aug 5, 2010, 8:54 GMT
Stockholm - Injury has forced Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell to pull out of Friday's 100-metre race in Stockholm against world record holder Usain Bolt of Jamaica and Tyson Gay of the United States.
Late Wednesday, Powell issued a statement citing pain in his back and legs and said he was 'devastated' over dropping out of the DN Galan race.
The trio have not competed in the same race since the 2009 world athletics championships in Berlin.
The DN Galan is part of the IAAF Diamond League series, and will be held at Stockholm Stadium, venue for the 1912 Olympic Games.
