Burning whipping-cream lorry trifles with German motorway traffic
Aug 12, 2010, 11:58 GMT
Friedewald, Germany - A lorry transporting spray cans of whipping cream caught fire on a German motorway, causing the cans to explode and cover the road in cream, officials reported Thursday.
The lorry's spilt contents also included marmalade, cheese, butter and olive oil, which melted into a gooey paste that spread across the motorway.
'It's an enormous mess,' fire inspector Juergen Weingarten said.
Around 50 firefighters extinguished the fire, which caused an estimated 165,000 euros (214,000 dollars) of damage. Nobody was injured, but the motorway remained closed for 11 hours.
