Reports: Rubin Kazan sign Italy defender Bocchetti
Aug 28, 2010, 13:48 GMT
Moscow - Russian champions Rubin Kazan have signed Italy defender Salvatore Bocchetti from Serie A club Genoa, local news reports said on Saturday.
Bocchetti is to receive a contract until the end of 2013 and the transfer fee was estimated at 9.5 million euros (12.1 million dollars).
The 23-year-old has five caps and was part of the Italian squad that went out in the group stage of the World Cup in South Africa.
Kazan appear to be bolstering their squad for the upcoming Champions League group stage where they meet Catalan giants Barcelona, Panathinaikos Athens and Copenhagen. Kazan famously won in Barcelona last year but failed to make the knockout stages.
Kazan, who are placed second in the current Russian season behind Zenit St Petersburg, had earlier signed Brazilian midfielder Carlos Eduardo for 20 million euros and Nigerian forward Obafemi Martins for 9 million euros.
