Germany's Jansen sidelined for Azerbaijan qualifier
Sep 4, 2010, 12:55 GMT
Brussels - Marcell Jansen will miss Germany's next Euro 2012 qualifier against Azerbaijan over a knee injury, team officials said on Saturday.
The left-back Jansen, 24, sustained the injury during Germany's 1-0 win in Belgium on Friday and had to be substituted at half time.
He returned to his club SV Hamburg on Saturday where further examinations are to determine the exact nature of the injury.
The second qualifier against Azerbaijan is set for Tuesday in Cologne. Hamburg team-mate Heiko Westermann, who replaced Jansen in Brussels, is expected to start as left back as coach Joachim Loew will not nominate a new player.
