Serbia to amend Kosovo resolution headed to UN (Extra)
Sep 8, 2010, 16:37 GMT
Belgrade - Serbia's government on Wednesday agreed to file a changed resolution on Kosovo to the United Nation's General Assembly.
The government said in a statement that the changed resolution has been worked out with all 27 member states of the European Union and that it 'represents a compromise Serbia made with the EU.'
There are no indications what the changes are, but the government said that the changed resolution will not in any way recognize an independent Kosovo.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, 11 years after NATO ousted Serbian forces from there. It was recognized by the US and the leading EU countries, while Serbia, supported by Russia, opposes it.
In July Belgrade's petition to the International Court of Justice backfired, since the UN tribunal ruled that Kosovo's declaration of independence violated no law.
