Valencia, Spain - Spanish police Friday released three women who were being held as hostages by a bank robber in the eastern city of Valencia, police said.

He released some of the hostages after negotiations with police. A gun shot was then heard inside the building, and police stormed it.
The robber was overpowered and slightly injured during the police raid. The three remaining hostages were released.
The robber's motives for taking the hostages were not clear. None of the hostages sustained injuries.
