Oct 3, 2010, 13:44 GMT
Madrid - At least 125 African illegal immigrants in 11 boats have landed on the coast of Spain in three days, with 64 people in six boats arriving in the early hours of Sunday morning alone, Spanish state radio station RNE reported.
The six boats landed in the region of Murcia, in south-eastern Spain.
The immigrants were reportedly mainly from Algeria and other North African countries. They were being given humanitarian and medical aid in Spain and had been taken to a holding camp.
The authorities had also begun deportation proceedings.
Since the beginning of the economic crisis the number of illegal immigrants in Spain had fallen rapidly.
