Clinton in Kosovo to urge talks with Serbia
Oct 13, 2010, 9:57 GMT
Pristina, Kosovo - US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was to close her Balkans tour Wednesday in Kosovo, where she would likely push leaders to start talks with Serbia.
On Tuesday in Belgrade Clinton had called for a dialogue to begin quickly. She has also been to Bosnia on the ongoing regional visit.
Given Serbia's refusal to accept the independence of Kosovo, its former province, Clinton suggested that the talks should skip difficult political issues at first and focus instead on improving daily life for both ethnic Albanians and ethnic Serbs in the territory.
The chief US diplomat was also expected to discuss Kosovo's political crisis with its leaders, as the resignation of president Fatmir Sejdiu this month could trigger early polls and delay talks with Serbia.
After leaving Kosovo, Clinton will head to a NATO summit in Brussels.
