Norwegian royals seek expert on social media
Oct 13, 2010, 13:48 GMT
Oslo - Over two dozen people have already applied for a new position opening at the Norwegian royal palace - as a communications advisor specializing in social network media such as Facebook.
The position was announced a week ago on Facebook as well as the microblogging site Twitter, the VG newspaper reported Wednesday.
The palace has not taken out any advertisements in print media, in line with its goal of 'finding a person who is a good user of social media,' said Gro Mollerstad of the recruitment firm The Head-hunters, which is to sift through the applications.
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit already use Twitter and Facebook to inform those interested about their activities and public engagements.
The new position will entail working at the royal palace and accompanying the royal couple on trips. Applicants should have 'first-rate knowledge of using social media,' the ad said.
Mollerstad said the 30 applications filed so far indicated there was 'high interest' in the post. The application deadline is October 22.
