Oct 13, 2010, 16:02 GMT
Berlin - German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle was due to meet his Israeli counterpart Avigdor Lieberman for talks in Berlin late Wednesday, to discuss recent developments in the Middle East.
Westerwelle said the meeting was part of a 'regular exchange' in person and by telephone with Liebermann, in which the ministers discussed more than just the Middle East peace process.
He said Germany had a clear interest in direct talks succeeding between Israel and the Palestinians, and appealed to all parties not to jeopardise the process.
On Thursday, Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa is due in Berlin for talks behind closed doors with Chancellor Angela Merkel.
