Norwegian customs seize large haul of alcohol
Nov 15, 2010, 14:57 GMT
Oslo - Norwegian customs officials Monday seized over 14,500 litres of hard liquor from a Polish-registered truck, the largest such haul since 2002, according to media reports.
'The stash (of alcohol) was hidden among legal goods,' customs official Wenche Fredriksen told public broadcaster NRK.
The truck was stopped on the Norwegian side of the Svinesund sound, which is linked by two bridges between Norway and Sweden.
Two men in the truck have been detained, NRK said.
Over the weekend, Swedish police stopped four Polish-registered cars loaded with liquor, wine and beer near the Swedish city of Uddelvalla, not far from the Norwegian border.
